GST on agistment lease

Hi we are leasing some land for agisment of cattle, do you need to charge gst?

Hi Louise,

Welcome to the small farm forum and thanks for the question.

You will only need to charge GST if you are registered for GST, businesses are required to register for GST if there turnover is $75,000 plus per year.

Some people will choose to register for GST even if their turnover is less then $75,000 if they know they are going to incur a large amount costs that include GST and they want to claim this back.
