GDot soil moisture display

 Developed by MEA, Australia's soil moisture monitoring specialists, the GDot is a simple visual display to help you know when to irrigate. No more  guesswork!

You do not need to use any accompanying gadgets, no computers nor any software, just the GDot will do.

How does it work? 

The GDot has seven brightly coloured ‘flip dots’ that reflect changes in soil moisture levels. 

For those in the know, the GDot measures soil moisture tension, a indication of how hard the roots are working (or sucking) to get moisture out of the soil. For those that aren't in the know all you have to do is watch the dots.

As the yellow dots begin to disappear, it indicates that the plants are working harder to get water from the soil.

 When only a few yellow dots remain most crops are on their way to experiencing water stress.  This is your cue to irrigate. It’s that simple.

 No more overwatering and wasting those precious drops and more importantly, no more stressing of your plants, giving you the best chance for the best  yield possible!

  • The GDot can be read at a glance, from over 15 metres away through a wide view angle. It's as simple as driving past in your car or sending the kids out to count the dots!
  • The GDot runs on a pair of AA batteries, and never needs to be adjusted, serviced or calibrated, The batteries will last for more than three years.
  • The GDot can be installed in minutes with the most unsophisticated equipment. Auger a hole, bury the sensor in the active root zone of your crop and hang the GDot from a wire, screw it to a post or mount it on a length of 33mm pipe.
  • The GDot is housed in a tough scratch-resistant and UV stable polycarbonate enclosure to make sure it withstands the harsh Australian environment.
  • The bright, chili-red base ensures the device won’t disappear into the green background of your crop foliage.
  • The sensor cable is fitted with a robust connector that plugs firmly into the GDot display and is easily unplugged for sensor changeover.
