Has any one heard of Helpx or WWOOF Australia?

Hi if any one needs a hand from workers and would be willing to exchange food and board for workers then look at these 2 websites

Hi Raymond,

I am in the process of looking for some help on my few acres, have you used either of these sites for organising workers, are they reliable?

Also, do I need my own workers insurance in case their is an accident or do the workers come with insurance?

Any other help would be appreciated.

Hi Raymond,

WWOOF (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) is a great source of casual and regular assistance. Like anything, what you put in is what you get out of it. Provide a friendly easy going attitude and keep the work day of around 4-5 hours and you should do well. If you can sign off on 2nd Visas then even better as many backpackers will seek these kind of propeties.

You do have to jump through a few hoops to be a registered host.

My daughter was a WWOOFer in Italy a few years ago. That is when we became interested. To our suprise it originated just down the road from us in Gippsland Australia!!

We had a few lovely visitors from overseas who helped out and enriched our lives. It is well worth the effort to join and welcome them. They are primarily holiday makers looking to meet people and help out for the experience. They are NOT labourers and shouldn't be asked to do more than a few hours a day and not too arduos tasks.

We are just building our new house on this block and will end up with a self contained unit that we can have people in, so will probably start WWOOFing again soon.  Cheers Royce

Hi,

Other members of my family have had quite a few "woofers" over the years. For them it was more of a social experience than a useful souce of labour. A bit like an exchange student that you can ask to do odd jobs. They never regretted any of the stays as far as I know.
