New property and not sure what to use all the amazing utilites for ???

Hello we have just purchased 30 acres near Bonnie Doon in Vic, approx 10 acres is well cleared with sensational fencing and the most amazing shelters, water, stables all seperated from each other with own fencing  etc however i dont think the land will take care of horses for example.

Does anyone have any suggestion on what would be an easy animal to have here, the bush area is no good for animals but certainly the cleared area has outstanding use for something????

I would think looking at the land come summer it will be quite arid feed wise, at the moment the property has goats which i have no idea about, but always open to suggestions.   The property also has a large commercial cool room and hanging area???

I would be interested to see what people suggest, it would be nice to make a few dollars but not necessary.

Was it a deer farm before? Is this area compacted? If so you should loosen it up with a ripper so it can have a better chance during summer. Sounds like you need a high value product to justify all that infrastructure, that is what made me think of deer but I have no experience with them. If you could fence off some of the bush area that would be a good place to run the goats if you want to keep them. They would also help with the bushfire threat by thinning this bush. Cheers Rob.

Can I suggest you have a look at Dorper Sheep. They are non selective feeders and being a hair sheep, generally don't need shearing. Some are better hair shedders than others.

They are tough on fences though and will push through if you have the wrong type of fencing. There is quite a bit about them on this website and lots on the web. I recently bought 20 ewes in lamb and so far out of 7 that have lambed have six sets of twins and one single.
