Looking forward to being on this forum, and learning from our expirienced farmers. We have had our 125 acre block for just about two years now and currently lease 100 acres to a cropping farmer. We would like to become self sustainable in a few years. We originally had six calves, running on the other 25 acres, but found when they got a bit older, that our fences werent good enough to hold them in. We sold them at 10 months making reasonable profit. Cattle farming is not for us. We are now keen to get into yabbie farming, as our two dams are full of them.

Hi Highlander,

Welcome to the hobby farm forum, pleased to have you as part of the community.

Sounds like you have a diverse farm, out of interest was it just the poor fences that turned you off having cattle?

Also, would we would love to know how your yabbie farming venture progresses.

Regards,
Charlie
