Olive trees

I am wondering if anyone knows if there would be a market for planted Olive trees, eg possible sale to advanced tree nurseries, or anyone else someone might be able to think of, who would dig them up and take them. The trees I have in mind are 5 - 10 years old, about 700 of them. If I were to purchase this property, I would prefer to clear the grove and use the area for grazing cattle. Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas.

Good afternoon, I believe that olive trees are fairly easy to dig up and relocate so should have a market to get rid of them. We are looking to get some established trees onto our property but only see limited posts with trees available. Let me know if your land purchase went ahead and if you are getting rid of the trees, depending on location we may take 10-20. Good luck!!

Hi mate, I am buying a farm used to graze cattle and doing the opposite, haha! I would be happy to take as many as practical, however depending on your location. Let me know when you are planning on shifting them. I should take possession of my place in mid March 2019. Let me know what area you are in and do you know any details of the olives planted (type etc). Thanks Anthony.

I have almost this exact same arrangement currently. The olive trees provide shelter, keep the paddock from drying out in summer, the prunings provide supplemental feed in winter. I'd keep the trees.

Thanks for the interest and advice. Trees are in Mornington Peninsula.
Access from late April. Yell out if still interested.

Re: the old post about what to do with a farm with 700 Olive Trees?
I am in the same set of thinking - I have 1000 olive trees - what did you end up doing with your 700 trees?

Hi, where are you located? I am happy to pick up a number of them, if you’re giving them. Thanks

Hey Robert, sent you a message a while ago. I’m really interested in taking 20+ if you’re still trying to get rid of them. I’m trying to find some trees for my great grandfather. Thanks so much!

Hi, although I’m over a year late, if you still have any trees available, I would love to pick up a number of them.

Hi lazzaman, have you purchased the property? I’m more than happy to pick up 10-20 olive trees. Really interested and would come ASAP. Hoping to find some for my grandfather. Thanks so much!

my first response would be leave the trees be. Graze the cows underneath. Thus getting two forms of return from the same area of land. Diversity is important not only for income but also for the health of both the animals and the soil. The trees will provide much needed shade for the cows and the cows will provide food for the trees. You have so much growing time on the trees already it would be a shame to lose them. They will be there long after the cows are gone, they live for thousands of years. There are olive trees in Jerusalem that were there at the time of Jesus. You are so lucky to have such heritage on your land.
