Haven't Started Yet!
Hello!
My husband and I are currently looking to purchase a small parcel of land. We used to own land in Taralga but it was too hilly and rock based for it to be useful.
We currently live semi rural on half an acre, we planted a fruit orchard which is giving us some good fruit for ourselves and to share amongst the neighbours however we are hoping to go to a larger scale.
We have our eye on a property which is 40 acres with a dam and full time creek, slightly hilly, cleared and currently has horses and cattle grazing strayed from another local farm possibly. The adjacent property is also for sale which is bigger but doesn't have power connected, only a phone service.
Our concern with this particular property is that it has a road for neighbouring properties running right though it. We plan on garaging motorbikes, machinery and farm tools on the property. The second property doesn't have a road but doesn't have power either.
Our concerns are:
- *The close by public access road may attract unwanted visitors (this was unfortunately the case on our last property and everything not bolted down went walk-a-bout) or is this a bonus as I can divide the land and lease out one side?
- *We have savings to purchase the block but are hoping to borrow to afford to build improvements (Shed & septic system), with services connected we are hoping our bank says yes! Has anyone had issues with thier banks not approving money for rural properties/hobby farms/weekender?
Anything else to look for when purchasing a hobby block, I am happy to hear!!
Thankyou!
