Possibility of visiting Adelaide Hills small farm

Hi I'm new to 'Farmstyle'! My family and I are looking at establishing ourselves on small average in the Adelaide Hills. The first step was to relocate into the local area which we have done. We're now on the look out for the perfect plot of land to start our farming lives.

Looking at buying 700 acres

Im looking at purchasing around 700 acres in the New England region as a hobby / small production farm of goats and beef cattle has a few dams and creek water and relatively good boundary fencing for cattle. I would like to keep atleast 500 goats or so also once the fencing is up graded and divided into cells would I be able to make a small profit on running beef and goats. Any infomation would be greatly appreciated.

What to do?

Hello my name is Andrew,

My family has owned a parcel of land in the wollongong region for 150 years.

The property is now roughly 100 acres (50 of thick scrub and 50 of heavily weeded wirey Kikuyu.

Recently we have started to spray the weeds on our property hoping to get it cleared of weeds and mowed so we can begin to start farming again.

New to the game

Hi,

I am interested in some advice about potentially buying 1000 acres in the Hunter Valley to graze cattle on. I currently live overseas and will return to Australia over next few years and will build a house on it and live there as a primary residence. We have two young boys who I would love to allow them to grow up in this lifestyle. I have no experience in farming.

Lantana control

hello & thanks for the add to group. I am looking at a 570 acre property near stroud nsw, about 100 acres are cleared & the rest is steep dense rainforest with a large ammount of lantana present. Can someone help with advise on what my responsibility will be in regards to this, eg what time frame do you normally get to start eradication, what rate of treatment would be acceptable to keep authorities happy that you are genuinly having a go (acres per month treated), average cost per acre for self treatment & approx cost per acre for a contractor to do it.

what to check for when buying a small farm?

My husband and I are looking at buying a small property 30 to 50 acres in Queensland and am wondering what tests and checks we should conduct to make sure we are getting a quality property for small cropping.

What do you wish you had found out before you bought your land?

What do you wish you had found out before you bought your land?

Hi Forum Team,

My partner and I are looking at purchasing 100-200 acres in North East Victoria. We've looked at a few and havesome more to look at this weekend.

I've put a list of questions to the agent about easements, rates, soil type, soil and water testing, zoning, how far away is phone and power etc.

When you bought your land, is there anything that you wished you had asked or found out before you purchased?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Amelia
