Grass growing red in patches

Hi Charlie and Robb,

My turn to ask a question. My friend has red volcanic soil which is sown to Bisset Creeping Blue grass. She asked me today why there are patches of the pasture where the leaves of the grass are turning red. I told her that it might be due to a lack of phophorous and perhaps sulphur and she may need to fertilise with single super. I have also recomended that she have a soil test done. As I am no expert on pasture, I thought I would ask the experts.

Thanks in advance,

Barb

Hi Barb,

Pastures are my thing.

I would suggest the purpling is caused from phosphorus deficiency if not that maybe some type of fungal infection.

Has anyone else seen these symptom in pastures?

Cheers,

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

I will let her know that you have agreed that it could be a phosphorous defficiency. I thought that you might have the answer.

When in doubt, ask someone who knows.

Thanks for your help,

Barb
