Farming lavender
Hi All
I want to start a lavender farm in the town of bright and was wondering what outlay was involved, including machinery and what return i could get?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi
I've been reading almost all of the threads here about starting up a hobby farm.
I would love to set up a hobby farm, but I need to know if I can afford a large enough land holding to replace the income I would be giving up by selling my city home and buying a rural property.
We have 19 acres and I have 4 horses & 2 goats. The property has 2 large paddocks which have been used for farming sometime ago and they have furrows through them. I have a great property manager behind us who looks after 400 acres. He cut our hay when we moved in and will be spraying, rotary hoeing, flattening and seeding our pastures so they are flat and can be used properly. We will only be doing 1 paddock this autumn due to his time constraints.
Hi Guys,
Found this forum using google and have had a read of some posts and wanted to make a post of my own and reach out for some advise.
I've been working in Real Estate for the last 3 yrs or so and before that was in the media for about 10 but i hate the city...always have!
I'm wanting to start a cattle farm but honestly... don't know where to start or what areas to look at starting it up.
I currently live in Melbourne but would be open to moving pretty much anywhere to start our new life.
Hey guys,
I just wanted to ask about Lavender essential distillation equipment.
Normally, where can I purchase those equipments ? Does equipment matter when it comes to oil quality and standards?
Thanks a lot! :D

Hi All
My partner and I are seriously looking into starting a small beef (Miniature) producing farm, in the southern highlands NSW (approx. 200 acres). We have narrowed the breed down to two, Lowline (Angus) or Sqaure Meaters.
Having researched both breeds online extensively, we would appreciate impartial advice on which breed may work, and be most profitable for us.
Many thanks
Brett and Rachel
I'm trying to get a general feel for what sort of hobby farm my partner and I would need to plan and save for to realize a tree change dream. The ideal would be to be partially or even (dreaming big!) mostly self-sufficient on a small farm when we have a young family in the future. My partner works in an industry that suits running your own business from home online if we go rural, while we already plan for me to stay home with the kids regardless of whether we're rural or city based and I'd rather be being productive with my time producing our own food if I have the choice.
hi, i was just wondering if someone could give me some advice. my husband and I have a beef cattle. we were thinking of selling our beef straight to consumers and was wondering what the process was. we have the cattle killed by a professional and also cut up by the local butcher so we wouldnt be doing any of that side of it, we just wanted to sell the packed product to consumers. I was just after the legallities of selling your own product.
if anyone could give me info on starting up this little business idea , that would be much appreciated.
Kathy
Hi there.
I've tried searching Google and found a few pay-for services and a few others which I can't seem to get working. Is there an easy way to see some basic soil type maps for certain areas in, say, NSW?
Thanks!
