Moving on

I am new to the community, and am very excited reading so many informative posts. I grew up on and around farms. My grandparents (actually they were aunts and uncles but they were the nearest thing to grandparents I knew) lived on 5 acres. They grew all their own fruit and vegetables, kept chickens (for meat and eggs) and pigs and two milking cows. They taught me to make clotted cream, butter, cheeses and jams.

Hi from a Newbie

Hi, new to the forum.  Brought out farm about 4 years ago.  Have had a small herd of cows and sold them.  We also have 4 Heavy Horses for pleaseure.  Maily Clydesdales and my daughter's Shire horse.

Looking to establish Indigenous lines on the farm and grow commercially.  Needing to get weeds in order and looking to use steam method, as we would prefer not to use chemicals for our health, end consumers health and our animals health.

First Introduction

Hi All,

My Name is Ahmed; I am new migarant to Australia and I live in Sydney. I wa thinking of having a Farm as an investment and I have many queries such as:

   - What is the minimum area to be bought as a good investment start?

   - I am thinking to hire a full time Farm Manager. Is it effective?

   - How to get consultation services prior buying the Farm?

Thank and best regards to all.

Weekender livestock

Hi Everyone,

Waiting to exchange contracts on 25 acres in Southern Highlnds NSW. The current owners have 5 black angus cattle (one older, two teenage and two younger ones) and we have the option of keeping them with the property. We're only planning to go there on holidays and weekends and my gut feel tells me I'm better off asking the current owner to get them re-homed instead of taking them on - correct?

Got plenty to read and I'm sure plenty of questions to ask.

Advice on setting up a new commerial aquaponics farm

I am soooo very glad to have found this website and joined this forum.

I / we are after a swagger of information on developing aproductive aquaponics farm; making major lifestyle changes and reflection on experiences / reward for effort from others having been in a similar position and succeeded / failed.

A bit of context. Partner 40, self 36, kids 8 and 13, dogs, chooks and fish...

Buying an existing income producing mixed fruit orchard farm

Hi All

My wife and I are looking to buy an existing income producing mixed fruit orchard, or avocado, or Mango farm in North Queensland for around the 700k mark (approx 30 acres). We are both in our early 50's and ready to make lifestyle change. We have no farming experience, hence purchasing established farm and keep going......

Now, were do we start...?

1. Income producing farm. Do we need to setup a bussiness acount and buy the farm in a bussiness setup, own name?
