G'day from Mount Perry

Hi Everyone,

Just joined and thought I would say hi. I have 140 acres in Mount Perry. I have fenced off one half of the property into grazing cells, which also restricts access to environmentally sensitive areas.  Currently only running a few horses and a few cattle, but once all the infrastructure is complete (inlcuding my house!) I have plans to grow square meaters for beef and also pastured poultry, pork and mutton, plus free range eggs.

Intro from a city guy

Hello there :)

I'm Jason and long story short I am desperatly wanting to begin/establish a profitable farming venture. I currently live in a semi-rural suburb here in Perth and that coupled with previous exposure to farming lifestyle has fanned an inferno from what what was perpertualy smouldering embers.

WherZat Farm

We moved here 13 years ago. Used the property for horses and general farming. Would like to be more productive on our relatively small 8 acres. We have plenty of water and the soil is quite good. Over the years we have provided beef for the freezer, vegies for the table and planting a lot of fruit trees and native plants. The kids have enjoyed their horses and still do. I have 3 dexters, one bull and 2 cows. I am a member of the DACI and would like to bread the dexters. They are pure bread.

New to farming! Need a bit of help!

Currently in the process of buying a 10acre property in Lockyer Waters, west of Brisbane, close to Gatton. I have an idea of what I want to do but with very little experience, I was hoping for some input...

I currently do a few things that I'd like to expand on...

I have a small (20) chicken laying flock of Aracuanas, wellsummers and Sussex, and would like to increase the flock (50-60) what do I need to do to sell eggs legally in QLD?

New to farming, my adventure so far...

Hi,

I don't have any questions but just wanted to introduce myself and tell you a little about my farm journey so far...I decided to make my first home, a home in the country. It took nearly 18mths to find my perfect home, but at last, I found my little piece of heaven in the Southern Downs region of QLD.

My aim is to be self suffiecent, "live off the grid" as much as possible and to one day earn a small income to live comfortably (ie. pay those bills we can't get out of).
