New novice farmer to Gloucester NSW.

We are in th process of buying 180 Ha near Gloucester. Will need some pasture improvement down the track and we plan to get a few steers to start with as we are new to cattle. We have plenty of fencing projects, dam construction, and weed management ahead of us. Looking forward to it. We will only be weekend warriors at this stage. Will need to get some equipment such as tractors and implements. Thinking mulcher rather than slasher. Once I get a handle on the place we might need to rent a forestry mulcher on a skid steer to clear a bit more land. Any comments are welcome.

hello....

just in the process of buying a rural property south-gipplandarea vic. have wanted to leave city life for years now.

initially thinking small farm, i found the red tape that now goes hand in hand with rural properties very restrictive..... also only having a small budget, finding a piece of land that allowed me to realize my dream was difficult :( but compromise i did and the journey beginns )

first on hand will be my house.... simple smallish earthen walled then subsistence farming.

Macedon Ranges Shire

Team,

I thought I'd post a mail here for no other reason that maybe making contact with my future neighbours :)

Myself and my partner are currently on the hunt for a property in the Macedon Ranges Shire 'area'  with a view to the following:

1. Finding a home that we love.
2. That the home is located in an area and with a vista that norishes our soul.

3. That it is 'commuter' range of Melbourne.

Gday

Hi All

I'm Andrew. My partner Lizzie and I have a small (180 acre with 90 arable acres) property in Pingelly WA. I've had the land for a few years but have recently moved to the property in temporary accomadation while we owner build our house and make the land more useful and rehab some small sections. I've been lurking around the site for a week or so and thought I should do the righty and introduce myself.

Armidale NSW

Hi there,

joined not long ago.  We have 20 acres in beautiful Armidale after moving from Sydney.  We now have 3 Fresian x Jersey steers and I am picking up 4 Fresian x Jersey heifers from Dorrigo tomorrow.  Very excited to have these animals to mow the paddocks.  I think the wife loves the animals more than me.  We also have 2 pigs as pets and a cat of course.  I am looking forward to getting the benefit of the experience of the members here because no matter how much googling or youtubing I do I still have lots of questions.

Atherton Tablelands Queensland

Hey there, long time reader first time poster. I'm in the process of choosing 100+ acres in the Tablelands and I was wondering if anyone on this forum is from the region. I'm looking to pick someone's brain about the area and best use of the land. Thanks. Also, thanks for the people who run this forum, love reading it so much. Gives me hope.

G'day from the Lower EP, Sth Aus.

G'day. Great site. I am still looking for a block to have my hobby farm on, and being a moderate novice ( I have worked on and off on a few farms) I can see there is a lot of info here that will be beneficial.

Hi from QLD

Hi guys,

Just found this forum and it appears to be exactly the resource I need to learn more about small farming. I am in the process of buying a 50 acre property and looking at small ways to generate an income. Hoping to learn alot on here and also offer some advice as well. My background is in digital marketing for over 15 years, so if anyone is needing advice around marketing and growing their business - getting access to online customers and actually 'making sales' i am here to help.

Cheers,

Alex

Where to start!

Where to start!

Hi, I have recently retired (at 50 - lucky me), and I am wanting to start farming goats on our property just out of Roma, QLD. We have 22 hectares and are currently having them goat fenced. My husband will be working full time so it will fall to me to set up and farm with the odd bit of input from him lol! Neither of us have ever farmed, but have lived rurally most of our lives, myself in NZ and my husband in the Toowoomba region. Where do we start for advice?

Cheers,

Lynda
