Zero turn mowers

Hi, looking for advice regarding purchase of zero turn mowers to cover paddocks that are a bit uneven on a property approx 50 acres in total.  Ease of operation  and reliability are most important.  HAve a small cox ride on which i really like.  Probably mid range with a decent cut width, any advice from personal experience appreciated

Thanks

Jane

What to use 160 acres for

Hello Farmers, I have access to 160 acre block in South West Queensland . It comes with a town powered bore, small yards, 8mx4m shed, loading ramp ,troughs and buffell grass and possible 600mm rainfall per year.I'm wanting to use it to supplement our income not sure in what direction to go fat lambs or maybe goats as they need less attention and dollars to breed .I may need to pay a small lease or rent fee as I have a share in the land.I have liitle to start with and am keen to hear your ideas need to dummb it right back for me but.

Thanks

ATV

Does anyone know an ex hobby farmer that has a powerful 4wd ATV for sale. I have had one ofr 6 months and it is clapped out looking to buy one but brand new prices are huge.

Also I have tracked out one of my paddocks getting a ute bogged and Sy=teer tracking out. Is there anything I should do to ensure ground not full of holes when dries up?

Many thanks

Wether alpacas

As we have recently purchased land, aiming to become self sufficent with varying livestock incl cows and milking cows, sheep, goats and pigs, chooks etc. I have just started my research of these animals, including feeding and nurturing requirements, and best breeds to achieve our goals. I have discovered the use of wether alpacas and was wondering if anyone could inform me of the alpacas reaction towards snakes and would they protect a herd from snakes? Or is it something they might be afraid of?

Boggy easement and drainage/earthmoving questions

Hello! I finally exchanged contracts on my slice of Australia and have been down there 4 times checking for good shed sites for sun paths etc, and to check fence lines. However yesterday I went down and got seriously bogged on the easement that runs into our property. The area had a few days of rain and half a foot of snow cover but one section was like sandy mush. We are now thinking do we get an earthmover in to compact the slight descent into the property with some drainage or did we just go on a really bad day? Should add the local river tripled its flow over 3 days!

12 acres and contracted water lisence. What to do?

Hi all, im very seriously looking at a 16 acre property with a house and 12 acres of cab sav vines that are irrigated by recyled water. The problem is i know nothing about vines and the water is locked into a contract at a cost of $6000 per year. To have the vines managed will cost to much ( quoted 30 grand! ) so i would likely tear them out with my fathers earth moving equipment. My question is what do i run or grow on the property to cover the cost of the water and possibly make a profit? The land is an hour south of adelaide and reasonably sloping in nature.

Pigs and poultry WA

Hi all we are new to the farming scene. We have 60 acres of that has been used in the past for cropping. Due to not having the machinery we let someone else crop it and he gives us some grain for our pigs. We are looking at doing the home kill with the pigs (free range) and breeding chooks for eggs to sell. We have read about the caravan chicken coops. Just wondering if at done has or is doing either of these and can give us some advice as to what we need to do to make it a reality. What rules regulations etc governing home based farming that we might not be aware of.
