Any experiences with "tow behind" mower?

Hello, I hope Easter was as beautiful for other folks as it was on our little farm at Elands, NSW. I'm prevailing on the knowledge of fellow small holders for information about solutions for mowing and slashing. I want to mow about an acre on the house yard and keep it nice and tidy. The grass grows at an astonishing rate in Elands.

Square Meaters cattle

Hi Rob,

I had a look at some photos of Square Meaters on the web and they look a lot like my Murray Grey's but they are shorter and the body weight given is lighter. Are they related to Murray Greys or Angus? Just curious to know.

cheers,

Barb

Rain!!

The last real rain was in November and LOTS of 40 degree plus days. The place was dry as a chip, we have sold all but our core herd and flock and we have been feeding them. How things have changed, 200mm over the last three days and we have full dams AND even grass growing noticibly. Timing is perfect as the weather is still warm for pasture growth. The profile will be full after this so is time to start sowing :-)

Anyone else had good rain?

Cheers

Rob

Dolomite supplier

i'm trying to find a supplier for my farm at Crookwell.

Had the soil testing done. Dolomite better than Lime for me

Quote from spreader companies was $10k+ for 190 ac. Supply and spread. (tell him he's dreaming)

If I can find a source i'll spread it myself.

When is best to spread and does it need digging in (?)

I want to do asap and then fertalise in early spring

Any thoughts please.

Autonomous diesel pump controller?

Hello,

I will soon need to change a diesel pump from manual operation to completely autonomous. It pumps water from a creek into a tank, from where I use a solar pump for drip irrigation. This all has to happen unatteneded.

The diesel pump is completely conventional: it has a key-operated electric starter, fuel tap, throttle and decompresison switch. All of these things need to be set to the proper position, and of course it has to be set throttle-off to stop.

Telephone controlled power point

Hi,

Has anyone used these power outlets that turn on and off via phone call. They sound perfect for my pump.

Foam-filled ATV tyres for free trial

Hi all,

I have a pair of 25x10-12 Deestone Ditch Witch tyres, mounted on steel rims and filled with lightweight foam.

I require a long-term test to be carried out, and am looking for a farmer located within 100km of Perth who would be willing to try them out. They would be available for use free of charge. The ATV would be required to be in daily use for at least a few hours each working day in the interests of obtaining the necessary data as quickly as possible.

Thanks

Daniel Honiball
