Giant Paramatta Grass

Our neighbours slash the parramatta grass and it has seeded into our paddocks. We were cutting the heads ( seeds ) off and bagging when we saw a bunch but now it is everywhere. Another neighbour has tried fungus with little results. What is the best treatment? We have beef cattle so it is important for us to have good pasture for them. On the other hand we do not have a great deal of cash to spend on controlling this noxious weed. Please HELP! My hubby is starting to talk about buying a wiper..

Fencing Cost

Hi All,

I'm just trying to plan out some fencing on my farm but cost is going to govern exatly how many paddocks i do at this stage.

Could someone give me some rough costing, say per mtr rate?

I'm looking at getting equine fencing and goat fencing which will dual accomodate for the goats.  The horse paddocks would be a stiff mesh product 1.5m high with hot wire top & bottom and goat fencing would be hinge lock with 2 hot wires top and bottom not as high and most likely include star pickets not poles for stays.

I'm in Victoria

Opinions on lame heifer

Seeking thoughts on my Droughmaster x Heifer about 2 years old, part of our small herd of 7.  Shifting lamness for nearly 6 weeks, no loss of appetite however losing condition as unable to move freely about the paddock, spends most of the day laying down.  Bright in the eye and doesn't appear to be in pain.  Has had 2 courses of Antibiotics and Anti Inflammatory injections to treat perhaps bacteria infection in her joints however to no avail.  Any thoughts on what this might be would be appreciated .....   with thanks.

Pasture recovery

Hi wondering if you would have any tips on improving our pasture. We are on 5 acres and like so many many others our paddocks have been hot badly by the drought this summer. Our paddocks are north-west facing and sloping at a 20 degree angle and what grass is left is yellow and turned to a crisp by the sun.

Recommendation of machinery repairs

Hi, we are hobby farmers in the Hills just outside Perth.  We have a minor but necessary repair required on our Box Blade grader and we are struggling to find someone to do the job (job too small/don't do farm attachements only tractors etc).  Callout preferred but can take the unit to a repair shop if necessary.  Can anyone recommend someone?  Thanks

Eliminating oxe-eye daisy

I have a small cattle breeding enterprise in the upper Blue Mountains of NSW. For many years I have been stuggling to overcome an infestation of oxe-eye daisies in some of the pasture. Does anyone have any experience of eliminating these dreadful weeds? They are perenial and spread by seed as well as root sections. These daisies are not very common in traditional farming areas so there is not a lot of information available.
